Few weeks ago, Makerere University management handed over the site to Excel Construction company. They started the job on March 14th after beating eight different companies for the job.
According to Prof Banabas Nawangwe, Excel Construction Company which he describes as being ‘affordable’ is expected to complete the construction works by August 2022 when the university will be celebrating 100th anniversary
“The contractor should burn the midnight oil to ensure that the Main Building is standing when the university holds its centennial celebrations in August,” he said
Earlier, the parliament of Uganda approved 20b Ushs supplementary budget for the construction works.” Nawangwe said.
