The High Court in Lira on Friday June 30 issued an injunction stopping the minister for Gender Labour and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi Akena from using the land she allegedly grabbed from a resident in Oyam district.
Amongi recently came on spotlights after reports implicated her over land grabbing. The contested land is in Lwala village Kamdini parish Kamdini Town Council in Oyam district. Its is being contested between a one Micheal Ogwal and minister Amongi with each side accusing another of grabbing.
According to an injunction instituted by the court registrar Godfrey Ssalamu Ngobi, court directed the minister and her accomplices to immediately vacate the land and put on hold all activities on it until the matter is disposed off.
TThe injunction was instituted on the request of Ogwal’s lawyers led by Emmanuel Egaru Omiat.
Attempts to speak to the minister for her comments on the matter were futile.
