Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has tested positive for COVID-19, the ministry’s spokesperson said on Saturday.
It is alleged that the minister contracted the disease during a meeting with European Union counterparts on Monday.
The ministry further stated that all government officials will be subjected to a mandatory COVID-19 testing as a mean of combating the possible spread of the disease.
“As a precautionary measure all members of the government will be tested on Saturday. It is suspected that Schallenberg might have been infected at the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Monday,” the spokeswoman said, adding that Schallenberg was symptom-free and had a routine test
