The Uganda National Examinations Board – UNEB has summoned candidates for Mayanga Primary School to the board’s Examination Security Committee-ESC to answer questions over alleged malpractice in the recently released 2022 PLE exams.
In summon notice dated 25th January, 2023 addressed to the Mitooma District Chief Administrative Office (CAO) seen by Parrots Media, UNEB explained that they withheld results of 63 P7 candidates for Mayanga Primary School over alleged malpractice pending investigations.
“This is to inform you that at its 329th meeting, the Board’s ESC in accordance with section 5(2b an 4) UNEB Act 1 of 2021, withheld results of candidates in a school in your district who were suspected to have been involved in examination malpractice in the 2022 PLE. Their results have therefore, not been released, pending investigations,” read a notice in parts.
The board however explained that the affected candidates are subject to scrutiny under the law of Natural justice.
“The purpose of this letter therefore is to inform you that candidates in the school under listed will be required to come to the ESC to be given a hearing as required by the law of Natural Justice.” UNEB said
The board called for compliance to summons by both the school and candidates
“All expenses will be met by the affected school/candidates and other affected persons,” read a letter by the UNEB executive Director, Dan Odongo
However, the date for the hearing of this matter has not been scheduled. UNEB noted that the date of hearing will be communicated soon.
Mayanga Primary School is a government aided school located in Mayanga sub-county (formerly Kabira Sub-county), Ruhinda South County in Mitooma District. The school Sat for the 2022 PLE Examinations under random No: 553542 with over 60 candidates.
