About The1,000 at Makerere University are likely to miss graduating in the University’s 72nd graduation ceremony over missing, marks, tuition balances, retakes among other reasons.
Graduands largely from the College of Education and External studies, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Nakawa based Makerere University Business School (MUBS) were left shicked after their names did not appear on the University final graduation list.
Some students argue that despite clearing tuition and passing all their exams, their names were unfairly left out in the final graduation booklet.
Maureen Akello, one of the aggrieved students expressed dissatisfaction at the university demanding that an addendum graduation list be created to include names of missing graduands.
Makerere University 72nd graduation has commenced on Monday May23rd, with graduands from the college of health sciences (CHS), College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) and School of law (LLB) and will proceed to upto Friday 27th May.
Over 12,000 students will graduate from the University 72nd graduation.
An anonymous source told Parrots UG that the office of Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Dr. Umar Kakumba will issue transcripts and certificates to eligible graduands whose names are missing on the list.
But students have insisted that this is not convincing enough, demanding that an additional list be created to enable them have their academic honors awarded.
Attempts to speak to the university Public Relations Officer, Ritah Namisango for a comment on the University’s stake on missing graduands became futile.
