The Church of Uganda officer in-charge of communications Sadiiki Adams has revealed that Muhabura diocese will have a new bishop before the end of February this year.
This revelation comes following several public out cries among Christians in the diocese over the delayed process to have a Bishop elected to replace Rt Rev Cranmer Mugisha who requested the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda an early retirement following health conditions.
Sadiiki told us during an interview that the archbishop has already communicated to the nominations committee of the diocese about the detailed procedure of nominating names for submission so that it does not repeat the errors made in the first nomination process and it was sited in other dioceses.
Sadiiki noted that once the nomination is done, the house of bishops will sit and elect a new bishop soon and be enthroned and consecrated immediately before the end of February.
He however added that it is not necessary that a bishop must be born or working in the diocese of Muhabura because God’s work has no boundaries noting that the people of Muhabura should use the take North Kigezi diocese as an example where their new bishop has served God in different capacities and not from the same dioceses.
He requested the Christians of Muhabura diocese keep calm and cooperate with Bishop Cranmer Mugisha and in the meantime patient as God has a final best answer for them.
In the same faith, the house of bishop’s sitting at Lweza conference center in Kampala on 18th of this month elected Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe as the 6th Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rev. Canon Enos Kitto Kagodo as the 5th Bishop of Mukono Diocese and Rev. Canon Simon Akol Aisu as the 2nd Bishop of North Karamoja Diocese.
