KAMPALA: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has President Museveni fulfilled his pledge to Church of Uganda to donate tractors to boost agriculture activities in the CoU provinces.
Museveni through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries has on Tuesday given another 5 tractors to boost their Agricultural activities at the different provinces of the Church.
The tractors were handed over to the Church of Uganda Archbishop The Most Reverend Steven Samuel Kazimba Mugalu by the minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Frank Kajiiji Tumwebaze at the provincial secretariat in Namirembe Kampala.
During the event, the Archbishop said even though churches are closed to the general public, gardens remain open and the tractors should be effectively utilized to till land and improve livelihoods.
According to Archbishop Kazimba, the five tractors will be sent to selecteed dioceses across the country including Rwenzori diocese which has received one tractor.
Speaking at the event, Bishop Reuben Kisembo Amooti of Rwenzori Diocese has urged those with chunks of land to hire the tractors and use it to increase production.
“Let us use these tractors to increase food production and security, income for households,” Bishop Kisembo said.
Minister Tumwebaze who handed over the tractors to the Archbishop pledged more lobbying to ensure that all dioceses benefit from this donation.
