Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate, Gen. Mugisha Muntu, has raised concerns about the Electoral Commission’s impartiality, citing the presence of campaign posters of incumbent President Yoweri Museveni outside the Commission’s offices in Lubowa.
“We have questions about the Commission’s connection to candidate Museveni because even as you are coming in here to the Lubowa offices, his posters are right outside,” Muntu said. “We are going to ask the commission if I can also bring my own posters here.”

Muntu also demanded the immediate release of former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Dr. Kizza Besigye, and other detained opposition figures.
“Dr. Kizza Besigye remains incarcerated. If they have gotten evidence, they should proceed with the case. Dr. Kizza Besigye should be in his home, enjoying his freedom,” Muntu stated.

He further noted that several young supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) remain in detention without trial.
“It’s not only Dr. Besigye, there are many young people of NUP who are innocent. If you have cases, proceed. Go take them to court and argue your case, not to incarcerate them in the prisons without trial,” he added.
