Uganda Police Force has threatened to take legal actions against New Vision newspaper for circulation false reports on the health status of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martins Okoth Ochola.
On Wednesday (July 12) the New Vision reported that IGP Ochola is unwell and reportedly flown out of the country for Medicare, in accompaniment of the Police Surgeon and his Personal Assistant. However, the police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga has trashed the reports as biased and falsehoods intending to misinform the public.
“The story is false and misleading… He is reachable physically and on phone.” Enanga said
According to police, the IGP is in a Seven days leave on the advice of the doctor following an eye check up at Argawal Hospital along Lumumba Avenue
He said they are going to seek for legal redress against Vision Group regarding these falsehoods.
“The Director Legal and Human Rights Services, has taken up the matter and will take legal action against the Media house for giving false and misleading information to the public,” Enanga explained
