The ruling National Resistance Movement -NRM has faulted past opposition leaders in Rwenzori sub-region majorly Kasese district for poor service deliveries in the area.
Emmanuel Dombo, the director of communication in NRM says opposition leaders particularly members of parliament from the region have been politicking against the government than working towards improving livelihoods of their electorates.
“I am so saddened by the plight of the beloved people of Kasese who for so long had been deceived by some opposition elements, yet their lives were continuing to sink in misery. For a little while, I have been in this area, I have witness poor service delivery in education, health and road infrastructure due to bad representation,” Hon. Dombo remarked.
He was addressing the youths from Busongora south constituency gathered at Muhokya primary school in Muhokya town council.
In his address, he stated that the populace of Busongora south have got an opportunity in the coming by-election to end the long spell of misrepresentation and underservice by voting the NRM candidate, Thembo Gideon Mujungu who he said will work with government to ensure that their standards of living are improved.
“Entrust your leadership with ruling party in the approaching poll so that we pursue positive change and realize the youth agenda of skills development and keeping hopes alive,” he urged.
It should be recalled that Kasese district has been a stronghold of the opposition and has produced vibrant legislators for the Forum for Democratic Change party including former Leader of Opposition in the parliament, Hon. Winnie Kiiza, former Kasese municipality MP Robert Centenary, Hon. Atkins Katushabe, Hon. Jacksin Mbaju among other opposition leaders in the Rwenzori sub-region
In addition, Hon. Mujungu has asked the youth to support his quest of representing Busongora South to accomplish the tasks and projects he already started on.
“Kindly go back to your homes and reflect on the benefits of siding with the government. You deserve much better than what is happening in your ordinary lives. The narrative and trajectory here should change for residents to feel they are part of their beloved country,” said Mujungu
“I implore you to not only support me but to also campaign for me in your homes and friends as we martial for victory,” he added.
The youth pledged to mobilise support for the NRM Candidate noting that he is the only one potential to explain the government’s youth agenda.
Hon. Mujungu Thembe will be nominated tomorrow Tuesday 9th August, at Kasese district election returning officer office at 11am.
He is contesting along with two other strong candidates including Jackson Mbaju (NUP), Aloisious Kighema (FDC) and other independent candidates.
Election for Busongora county South are according to the EC roadmap slated to August 18.
