The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has committed a case of corruption involving three members of parliament from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) to the High Court for trials.

On June 10, police arrested three members of parliament namely; Cissy Namujju Dionizia, 46, Woman MP Lwengo district, Yusuf Mutembuli, 43, MP Bunyole East in Butaleja district and and Paul Akamba, 41, MP Busiki county in Namutumba district after a long day of questioning on alleged budget racket. They were arraigned to court and remanded to Luzira. They were reportedly arrested on the orders of president Museveni.
Prosecution alleges they solicited a 20% bribe from Ms. Mariam Wangadya on May 13, 2024, at Hotel Africana.
On Friday last week, the trio reappeared to court for their bail application and only Hon. Paul Akamba was granted a bail. He was however, rearrested by security operatives clad in civil attires who whisked him away and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Today, June 17, the MPs reappeared to the Anti-Corruption court Nakaseero to hear their bail application but the case was sent to the High Court for trial.
This was after the prosecution side led by Jonathan Muwaganya told Anti-Corruption court presided over by Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro that the DPP directed that the trio be committed to the High Court to stand trial on corruption-related charges.
Only two MPs; Namujju and Mutembuli appeared to court and their counterpart Akamba was missing with his lawyers demanding his whereabouts.
The police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga told journalists on Monday that they are not having the legislator in any of their detentions.
