The Rotary Club of Nsangi on Tuesday the 02nd of February recognized National Water and Sewarage Corporation with the 2020-2021 Rotary Vocational Award for it’s tremendous contribution in the Water and Sanitation Sector.
Accoding to the Club President Dr. Charles Muweesi, the rotarians commended NWSC for the connectivity and continous water supply during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Rotary membership recognize exemplary service in key focal areas such as; peace and conflict prevention/resolution, Disease Prevention and treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Economic and Community Development as well as Vocational Service Recognition.
Receiving the award, Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha thanked the Rotary club of Nsangi for the kind gesture which he said is motivation to the Board and Management’s efforts towards 100% service coverage for all.
He applauded rotarians for their commitment towards the achievement of SDG Goal 6; Clean Water and Sanitation.
“NWSC is working with alot resilience to ensure that our customers get water amidst the COVID-19 challenges.
We urge our customers to pay bills and enable us maintain the same level of service or even better.
This will also enable us extend clean water to the unserved population across the country.” he said
Sharing water supply stabilization plans for Kampala, Dr. Silver said that NWSC is working to complete the new 160million litres per day Katosi water works project.
Upon completion, NWSC will using Ggaba and Katosi water treatment plants meet the demand for clean water in the Kampala Metropolitan service area.
“This and many other plans aimed at service delivery enhancement for all have been incorporated into NWSC’s new corporate plan for the period 2021-2026.” he added
