John Fisher Sekabira, NWSC’s manager for marketing and digital communications, was named Public Sector Digital Communications Champion of the Year for his leadership in digital engagement and outreach.

The ceremony, held Friday (November 14) at the Kampala Serena Hotel during the Digital and Financial Inclusion Summit, recognised organisations championing digital innovation and expanding access to essential services across the continent.

“Today we bagged the Best Utilities and Government Services Digital Excellence award at the Digital Impact Awards Africa Awards ceremony. #DIAA2025” NWSC announced on their official X platform.

According to the organisers, NWSC earned the top honour for its consistent and transformative deployment of digital tools to improve customer service, streamline operations, and widen inclusion nationwide. The corporation’s digital self-service platforms accessible via web portal and mobile app, enabling customers to bypass physical queues, check account information, review bill payment history, and access services around the clock.

NWSC has also been lauded for integrating multiple payment channels, including mobile money and mobile banking applications, and for embracing electronic billing, which has enhanced transparency and simplified the customer experience.

In addition to the institutional accolade, John Fisher Sekabira, NWSC’s manager for marketing and digital communications, was named Public Sector Digital Communications Champion of the Year for his leadership in digital engagement and outreach.

“Our very own Manager Marketing and Digital Communications @jonfisher12 brought home the Best Digital Champion award,” the corporation added.

This is not the first time NWSC has been recognized for its significant digital impact, previously, the corporation scooped multiple honours including Best Digital Customer Service and Best Government Agency on Social Media, among others.

Held under the theme “Maximizing the Digital Dividend,” the summit brought together leaders in digital and financial services to discuss innovative pathways for accelerating inclusion, particularly among underserved populations.

NWSC attributed the award to the continued confidence and support of its customers, pledging to remain steadfast in its commitment to providing clean, safe and reliable water services across Uganda

“A special appreciation to our valued customers for the vote of confidence in our services. We reiterate our Commitment towards clean safe #Water4All.”
