Bushenyi District assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hillary Igambirine has urged residents to support incumbent Woman MP Annet Katusiime Mugisha, saying she has played a key role in advancing development programmes in the district.
Speaking during a mobilisation meeting on Wednesday, Igambirine said those opposing Katusiime’s re-election were self-seekers “holding back the district’s progress”, arguing that the legislator has been instrumental in promoting education, infrastructure development, women empowerment initiatives and advocating for tea farmers.
“She has contributed to the development of our district through supporting schools, women groups and raising the voices of tea growers. That is why some people do not want her re-elected,” Igambirine said.
He also implored residents to turn up for President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign rallies in Bushenyi on December 2 and to support the NRM in the forthcoming polls.
Meanwhile, hundreds of residents on Wednesday gathered in Ibaare to attend Katusiime’s campaign rally. The legislator, who earlier canvassed support in Bwoma, Ryeise and Rurengye, pledged to distribute 10,000 chicks to households and extend support to smallholder farmers as part of efforts to improve family incomes.
Uganda goes to the polls on January 15, 2026, according to the Electoral Commission roadmap.
