Dr. Tania Perez Xiques, confirms that she will be leaving Uganda as an ambassador after being appointed to a new post at the Cuban Ministry of foreign affairs.
This was in a departure notice to Ambrosoli Think Tank members where she hailed Ambrosoli Consult Uganda for spearheading economic and social discussions through hosting weekly Think Tank meetings, where Tania was an active member.
“We would like to recognize the commitment, passion and perseverance of the leader of the organization that won our respect and coordinations, ” Dr
Xiques noted.
Some of the official meetings that she attended as she bid farewell in the previous days included, meeting with the secretary general of NRM and the deputy speaker of parliament.
In 2022 , she visited MUST and this highlighted the partnership between Cuba and Uganda in promoting science and technology.
Dr. Xiques’ tenure has been known for her efforts to promote cooperation between the two nations. Her departure leaves a strong relation between Uganda and Cuba.
On Wednesday, members of the Ambrosoli Think Tank hosted a treat for saying good bye to Tania and celebrating her contribution to the group.
Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura who is also a member of the Think Tank commended H.E Tania for strengthening relations between Cuba and Uganda particularly education, and health sectors.
“Cuba has had fraternal relations with Uganda for half a century now since 1974. In these years of solidarity, social programs aimed at improving the welfare of our citizens have been exchanged, including education exchange programs and programs aimed at improving our health sector etc,” said Nyanjura.
Additionally, Ambrose Byamugisha aka Ambrosoli, Managing Director of Ambrosoli Consult Uganda Ltd said the organization has been enjoying good diplomatic relationship with the outgoing Ambassador and expressed readiness to continue working with the embassy.
