A total of 817,885 candidates have kicked off their final Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) today, Monday 3rd November, 2025, from various examination centres across the country.
UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo, the personnel include 160 district monitors, 13,841 scouts, 12,260 chief invigilators, 33,105 invigilators, and 524 security officers who will oversee and safeguard the examinations, candidates, and field officials.
Of these, 389,529 representing 48% are boys, while 428,356 (52%) are girls, according to data from UNEB.
Candidates are writing Mathematics this morning and Social Studies and Religious Education (SST & RE) in the afternoon. The exams will conclude tomorrow (Wednesday, November 5, 2025), with Integrated Science in the morning and English in the afternoon.
According to the examination regulator, the number of candidates registered to sit for this year’s PLE from 16,140 examination centres.
UNEB has assured the public of the smooth running of the examination exercise, and warned against any attempts for examination malpractice.
“We are committed to ensuring the integrity of our national examinations,” said Dan Odongo, the UNEB Executive Director. “We will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone attempting to compromise the credibility of our exams, regardless of their status.”
The PLE marks the end of seven years of primary education in Uganda and serves as the gateway to secondary, vocational, or technical education.
