The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has today released Primary Leaving Examinations results for PLE 2020 Academic Year.
The results were released today by the minister for education and sports, Janet Kataha Musevei at State House Entebbe.
According to the released results, UNEB registered an increase in the performance with 81,864 candidates passing in Division One compared to 69,243 in 2019.
The Uganda National Examination Board-(UNEB) executive secretary Dan Odongo announced that 11.1% of candidates who sat passed in division one.
A total of 749,761 candidates from 14,300 centres registered for PLE in 2020 compared to 695,804 in 2019. Of this number, 513,085 (68.4%) from 11,231 centres were Universal Primary Education beneficiaries, and 236,677 (31.6%) of the candidates were none.
Candidature increased by 53,957 (7.75%) over the previous year. This is the highest rate of increase recorded. Candidature has been increasing by an average of 2.5% over the last five years.
In 2020, analysis by gender indicated that 353,925 (47.2%) boys were registered compared to 395,836 (52.8%) girls, indicating that more girls than boys completed the Primary Education cycle. This has been the trend in the last five years
