Parents have been cautioned to beware of potentially harmful charms in success cards and other gifts intended for students preparing for exams.
The warning was issued by Ntungamo District Inspector of Schools, Robert Tuzarirwe, who claimed that some gifts may carry unspiritual influences and may be given by individuals with malicious intent.
Tuzarirwe shared this advice during a dedication service for Primary Seven candidates at Greenland Primary School in Rwemiriro cell, Rwemiriro ward, Rubaare Town Council, Rushenyi County, Ntungamo District on October 26.
A total of 45 candidates were registered to sit for this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at Greenland Primary School between 4-7th November, 2024.
The inspector also advised parents and guardians to avoid sending relatives and friends to visit their children at school, noting that some individuals may harbor envy or ill-will toward the students’ academic progress and future prospects.
“Don’t trust anybody, whether family or outsiders. Both could have intentions of harming your family in various ways.”
Reverend Naboth Bakundane, who led the dedication ceremony, urged the students to envision their future roles as leaders and liberators for their families. He also encouraged parents to keep their children focused and protect them from negative influences.
Mr. Pauson Byarugaba, director of Greenland Primary School, assured attendees of the school’s readiness for the upcoming PLE 2024 exams. School PTA Chairman, Mr. Wilber Ayebazibwe, expressed gratitude to the school’s proprietor for establishing such a promising institution and urged parents to continue supporting the school, both through enrolling students and providing financial assistance.
