The chairpersons of all the public Universities councils are slated to meet the striking lectures to find a way forward on the ongoing strike.
Lecturers’ strike sparked off on February 6 final year students were reporting for end of 2020 Academic Year studies. It started as gradually at Makerereuniversity but later spread wildly to other public universities.
According to the 20th March letter which was seen by Parrots UG, leadership of the striking staff have agreed to meet the council chairperson next week.
The letter signed by chairpersons of all the public Universities associations, Kyambogo University council has also asked staff to resume work to allow the commencement of examinations today.
However, the staff leadership says that whereas they have agreed to meet the council chairspersons, they are not going to resume work for the sake of conducting exams until their demands are responded to.
It is understood that Vice Chancellors of public Universities earlier this month met the striking staff to call off their strike but the meeting didn’t yield any outcomes.
