Rev. Canon Lubaale will be consecrated and enthroned on December 14, 2025, at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe in Jinja, where he will officially take over leadership of the diocese.

Born on October 9, 1978, in Bugombya Zone, Butansi Parish, Butansi Sub-county, Bugabula County, Kamuli District, Rev. Canon Lubaale accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour in December 1994.

He was ordained a Deacon in 2008 in the Diocese of Kampala, priested in 2009, and later installed as Canon of Education and Training at All Saints Cathedral, Kampala, on November 1, 2024.

A scholar and theologian, Rev. Canon Lubaale holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Development Studies, a Master of Arts in Theology, a Master of Arts in Development Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts with Education.

He is married to Clare Louise Atuheirwe, and the couple is blessed with four children.

Rev. Canon Grace Lubaale and his wife Mama Claire Louise Atuhaire.

Meanwhile, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, earlier today commissioned the Provincial Tribunal to handle disputes within the Church.

The commissioning followed an orientation session led by Justice Mike Chibita of the Supreme Court.

The Provincial Tribunal is chaired by Canon Naboth Muhairwe, the Provincial Chancellor, and comprises several bishops and distinguished members of the Church. These include Bishop Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa (Ankole Diocese), Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe (North Kigezi Diocese), Bishop Pons Awinjo Ozelle (Nebbi Diocese), Bishop James Bukomeko (Mityana Diocese), Bishop George Turyasingura (East Ruwenzori Diocese), and Bishop John Wilson Nandaah (Mbale Diocese).

Other members are Justice Hellen Obura, representing the laity, and The Very Rev. Canon Dr. Rebecca Nyegenye, representing the clergy.

The Tribunal will oversee internal Church disputes to ensure harmony, accountability, and adherence to the doctrines and constitution of the Church of Uganda.
