Latest reports from Mulago National Referral Hospital shows that former Kampala Metropolitan North Police Operations Commander, and Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Sam Omara has passed away.
On Sunday, social media reports made circulations claiming that Omara had died.
However, the family and police denied the reports, stating that he was alive and in critical conditions.

Omara, known for his role in cracking down on the 2011 “Walk-to-Work” protests led by Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, has been admitted to the private wing of Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, receiving treatment for kidney failure and prostate cancer.
Omara gained notoriety for his aggressive tactics against opposition figures during his reign as police operations commander in Kampala. After retiring from the police, he took up the position of Deputy CEO at Arrow Security Services, a private firm owned by Capt. Mike Mukula.
News of his death were further confirmed and announced by Capt. Mike Mukula on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“Arrow security systems LTD with deep sorrow announce the death of our Director Operations and deputy CEO SAM OMALLA (RIP) and retired at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP).He has just passed on in mulago hospital at 7 am after a long struggle with cancer,” Capt. Mukula announced.
Police are yet to issue an official communication regarding Omara’s death.
