Seven passangers have been confirmed dead and thirty (30) injured in a Gateway Bus crash accident in Kyazanga LWENGO district.
The accident involved a Fuso truck reg no UBM 673K and a Gateway Bus reg no UBQ 621 after a head on collision. The Bus was traveling from Kabale District to Kampala while the Fuso was traveling from Masaka to Mbarara.
The accident happened in Kirumba village, Kyazanga Town Council, Lwengo district on Monday morning.
Eye witnesses blamed the accident on the bus driver who was trying to overtake a Jaguar bus and collided with the Fuso truck killing seven people on spot. The yet to be identified deceased are said to be passangers in the Gateway bus.
Twaha Kasirye, Southern Region Police Spokesperson said bodies were taken to Masaka hospital mortuary while the victims were rushed to nearby clinics in Kyazanga Town Council and Masaka hospital form first aid.
He added that the traffic team is still at the team to gather more details of this accident.
