Police in Sheema district are investigating a mob killing of a 40-year-old man who was killed by a mob over unclear circumstances.
Nicholas Nuwagaba, a resident of Rwenshama Cell, Kagango division, Sheema municipality in Sheema district, fell a victim of brutal mob attack on June 11.
The circumstances sorrounding his murder remain unclear. But the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Acting Spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa, says Nuwagaba was beaten up by a group of unknown people who inflicted several injuries on him leading to his death, and dumped his body in a resident’s farm.
However, preliminary reports allege that the deceased was a renown thief in the area.
“The body had injuries on the head, hands and legs. It was allegedly discovered by yet to be identified women in a farm of one, Karemani while they were going for cultivation on Wednesday early in the morning,” SP Tayebwa said.
The police have launched a thorough investigation and are actively searching for the perpetrators.
“Investigations into who is behind this incident is still ongoing and we shall accordingly prosecute the perpetrator(s) of this incident,” Police stated.
Nuwagaba’s bidy has been taken to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for postmortem, awaiting his familiy for a dignified burial.
