The Kawempe North Member of Parliament-elect Mohammed Ssegirinya aka Mr Update has accepted to give up his MP seat if that’s what it takes to save his life.
In a video clip making rounds on social media ailing Mr Update with tears streaming down his cheeks is heard surrendering;
“Mutwale ekiffo naye mundekere obulamu….Mwanditutte ekiffo naye nemundekera obulamu,” ill Ssegirinya emotionally screams.
Ssegirinya is currently undergoing special treatment at Agha Khan hospital in Nairobi Kenya after he developed ear and abdominal compilations.
He was initially admitted at the Doctors hospital in Sseguku with ear and abdominal complications following his release from Kitalya prison on charges of inciting violence. He was granted a Shs 3 milion cash.
He was later referred Ssegirinya to Nairobi for further management and he was checked into the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi.
Ssegirinya was arrested on March 22, 2021 as he led a peaceful demonstration demanding for the release of the National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters that are being held by security operatives in a demo campaign he dubbed, “claiming Kyagulanyi victory in the 2021 presidential elections.”
Recenty, Ssegirinya was dragged to court over using forged academic papers by fellow NUP member Sulaiman Kidandala.
Its uncertain whether in the video , Ssegirinya is referring to Kidandala when he cried, ”take up the seat and my life alone,”
What is clear is that he will certainly miss out on his dream of representing the people of Kawempe North in the August House if court rules in Kidandala’s favor.
