The St Cecilia Vocational Old Girls Association (SCOGA) held its annual mentorship and motivation retreat over the weekend at Kitabi Bushenyi. The event was aimed at guiding current students from St Cecilia while fostering interaction between them to identify academic challenges and promote proper discipline.
The event brought together notable figures such as Rev. Br. Mugabo Augustine, the headteacher St. Henry’s College Kitovu and the Chairperson of all head teachers in Uganda, and Mr. Didas Orikiriza, Chairperson of Kitabi Seminary Old Boys Association (KISOBA) and senior educationalist, who were invited as guest speakers.
In his address, Rev. Br Mugabo emphasized that discipline, confidence, and focus are essential tools for academic success. He further highlighted that discipline needs to be accompanied by logic while urging both students and administrators to discourage strikes since they hinder progress towards academic excellence.
Mr. Orikiriza also stressed that academic giants take up the right culture, ethics, and leadership practices. He asserted that these three essential elements are critical to academic excellence and must be followed by all students.
During the event, Melody Nyinomujuni,(Owa vibe) the Chairperson of SCOGA Fraternity, applauded fellow SCOGA members for their efforts in motivating candidates before their final exams by buying textbooks, renewing structures within school premises, and hosting annual career guidance events. Meanwhile, Rev Sr Kyempame Clemensia praised SCOGA for its role in motivating candidates through retreats, buying textbooks, improving school infrastructure, and conducting annual career guidance sessions.
Overall, the event was a success, with many students being enlightened and motivated to work hard towards academic excellence while upholding proper discipline and ethics.
