The Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogere has asked medical practitioners to serve with kindness while attending to patients in hospitals than being money-minded.
Archbishop Ssemogerere made these remarks during the century celebration holy mass (100yrs) of St. Francis Hospital Nsambya Training School where he was the main celebrant. He said that medicine like any other profession is a calling from God which should not be taken for granted.
He noted that nurses and other health workers in hospitals ought serve with commitment and self-sacrifice to save lives just like Christ died for sinners to redeem the world.
St. Francis Hospital Nsambya Training School was founded by Sister Mary Kevin Kearney popularly known as Mother Kevin in 1921.
Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere
advised the alumni community of this nursing school to always raise the institution’s flag high by becoming it’s good ambassadors, serving with honesty and giving quality services to people.
The school principal, Sister Stella Josephine Namatovu also asked government to support nursing training schools to help in the quality assurance of training of the health workers.
Sister Josephine wants government to pay salaries for staff in these training institutions as well as giving subsidies on chemical equipments used in these schools.
Meanwhile, the former minister of trade in Buganda Kingdom Mohammed N Thoban and Sister Stella Josephine Namatovu have been recognized for the contributions he always renders to Nsambya training school and for the good administrative works at this school now for 25years, respectively
