A taxi ferrying passengers from Masindi District to Alangi Market in Zombo District plunged into River Nyagak this afternoon, authorities say.
In a video shared with Parrots Media, rescue teams from Nyapea Hospital and the police are seen at the scene attempting to evacuate passengers from the river under challenging conditions.
Eye witnesses say the areas is notorious for its rough road surface and steep slopes, which have been linked to previous road mishaps.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Police and rescue teams are continuing efforts to recover passengers, and further updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
By press time, officials had not confirmed the number of occupants, survivors, injuries, or possible fatalities in the incident.
