URA EFRIS Mobile App is both an online and offline App that can be used on any smart device to generate e-receipts to clients with or without data bundles.

The Uganda Revenue Authority has asked Ugandans to demand for Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solutions (EFRIS) generated receipts Everytime they make purchases in shops and other business centres.

Hassan Wasajja, the EFRIS manager at URA says taxpayers registered on VAT are required to give e-receipts to clients whenever they purchase a product or service as well as ensuring that the deducted Value Added Tax (VAT) has been remitted to the government.

“I would request all buyers across the country to ensure that everytime they purchase an item they demand a seller to give them a fiscalized invoice with a fiscal document number, verification code and a QR code,” he said.

He said an e-receipt is the only way a client makes sure that the VAT which the seller has deducted from them has been remitted to URA.

Wasajja was addressing journalists on the ongoing nationwide EFRIS and Data Tracking Solution (DTS) enforcement drive when he asked all businesses registered on VAT to use known URA platforms such as EFRIS Mobile App, System to System Invoice, Day stock publication software and the URA web portal to generate e-receipts to clients.

The EFRIS manager further urged bigger businesses such as supermarkets to embrace the system to system invoice and connect their ERP systems to EFRIS to generate invoices for clients. He said non-compliance to EFRIS will attract penalties such as a fine worth Shs6 million per month and temporary closure of business.

Started in January 2021, EFRIS entails the use of Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs), e-Invoicing, or direct communication with business transaction systems to manage the issuance of e-receipts and e-invoices in accordance with the Tax Procedures Code Act 2014.

All companies and other registered VAT registered businesses in Uganda are required to use the EFRIS platform to report electronically issued invoices and cash receipts to the URA.

URA official sensitizing taxpayers on EFRIS and Digital Tracking Solution (DTS) systems in Kampala along Kikuubo road.

Wasajja however, clarified that it is not a requirement for clients to have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) to be given e-receipt whenever they make purchases.
