The suspects were arrested on Friday after the animal owner, Imelda Katushabe found her pig missing, searched and informed residents of the loss.

According to Katushabe, on Friday morning, she had taken a basin full of human urine to serve to her pig only to find it missing. A search then ensued to the banana plantations but yielded no results.

She notes that as she reported the matter to the area Vice Chairman LC1 to also inform her husband and later informed his son in Rugashali trading centre to thoroughly check in all known pork saling joints.

Anonymous source who found Katushabe panting after a long search then tipped her on the alleged slaughtering of the pig by the suspects preparing it for sale.

The source led the owner to the slaughtering place, place was called in and suspects were arrested.

On intertogations, Asiimwe Lauben panicked and disclosed that he was asked by Sunday Richard to slaughter and share the animal today in the morning at around 07:30am. He says he first paid Sh100,000 for his share to Sunday and Arinaitwe and accepted to pay the remaining balance after sales.

Asked if he knew where Sunday had bought the animal, Asiimwe admitted to having not minded much stating that he (Sunday) is a renown butcher in the area something that made him believe he was the rightful owner of the pig.

The trio was found still disagreeing on how to share the meat when police arrested them.

Katushabe told reports that her pig estimated at Sh1 million was stolen on Thursday night at around 2am.

Police confirmed the incident saying the suspects are now in custody pending transfer to Kagadi Central Police Station waiting to appear in court on theft charges.
