Tooro Kingdom head, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has been asked to marry on his 29th coronation.
The call for marriage was made by the East Rwenzori Anglican Bishop, Rt. Rev. Reuben Kisembo during the service to commemorate this year’s coronation at St. John’s Cathedral.
During the service, Bishop Kisembo pleaded with the King to get a Queen (Omugore) for the Kingdom.
“We thank the Queen mother for taking a good care of you over time, but now I want to remind you the King to consider getting a wife because the years are running. We want to see you with a wife taking care of you,” Bishop Kisembo pleaded.
Born on April 16, 1992, to Best Kemigisha and the late Patrick David Mathew Kaboyo Olimi III, King Oyo was coronated the King in 1995 as a child at the age of 3, after the death of his father.
32 years later, the King has failed to get married despite calls from Kingdom Officials, the clergy and his subjects to marry.
In 2022, at the 27th coronation ceremony held at Karuziika palace, Bishop Kisembo also encourage Omukama Oyo to find a wife and marry, a call that has since fallen in deaf ears. It’s not clear when the King will respond to the public and clergyman’s frequent calls for marriage.
