Police have recovered two bodies of juveniles after yesterday’s heavy downpour in Kampala.
The two bodies were separately recovered from Kirombe, Butabika and Nansana where they were carried by flooding water from different parts of the city.
Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has identified the Nansana victim as Mukisa Favour who drowned in a water channel while playing with fellow children after the heavy rainfall.
It is alleged that the deceased had initially requested her mother, Halima Nabukenya to go and join other children and play which the mother later allowed.
“When her mother followed shortly after, she could not locate Mukisa. A search revealed that the child had been seen heading towards a water channel, and it was later discovered that she had drowned.”
The child’s body was discovered by the bystanders in Katooke A zone who contacted police.
A second incident occurred in Butabika which claimed the life of a 7-year- male juvenile , Amanya John Baptist a student of St. James Biina Primary School in Butabika.
It is reported that the deceased fell into a fast running water channel that swiftly carried him away.
Amanya’s body according to police was discovered in Kirombe Butabika.
“Upon receiving the report, the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and Homicide team visited the scene, and the young boy’s body was conveyed to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination,” Owoyesigyire said.
