A total of 76 candidates with special needs have been registered to take part in the July/August 2024 Competence-Based Assessments and examinations administered by UBTEB. These candidates will be provided with special examination arrangements to ensure their needs are met.
The special needs candidates are pursuing various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs and have been categorized into groups, including those with dyslexia, visual impairment, hearing impairment, hard of hearing, and physical disability.
To support these candidates, UBTEB has arranged for sign language interpreters, transcribers, guides, and extra time for those who require it. Large font materials will also be provided for some candidates.
The special needs candidates are among the 58,995 registered candidates who will sit for the exams at 454 examination centers across the country. The exams will begin on Monday and conclude on August 30.
UBTEB Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye stated that all necessary preparations have been made, including the delivery of examination materials and briefing of Reconnoiters with the assistance of the Uganda Police Force.
To prevent examination malpractices, UBTEB conducted pre-inspections of selected examination centers and deployed over 600 Reconnoiters and monitors. Additionally, 4000 Practical Assessors and verifiers will be deployed to conduct on-the-spot practical assessments of candidates.
