The for samples from a 34 year-old Ugandan female patient who died after presenting COVID-19 like symptoms have tested positive for COVID-19.
Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services at the MoH has confirmed to the Press.
The deceased was a resident of Namisindwa district who had earlier presented with COVID-19 like symptoms for; dry cough, headache, difficult in breathing among others.
On Wednesday 15july, she was first admitted at Wasungui Health Centre II and treated for severe pneumonia and later on Monday July20 transferred to Joy Hospice health centre in Mbale district where she was isolated in female ward.
MoH said the patient’s conditions persisted deteriorating and died on Tuesday July21st. Samples were taken from her for further examinations.
The ministry further stated that the samples from four labaratories at UVRI, CPHL, Tororo and Makerere tested SARS-COV-2 positive for corona virus.
The deceased was buried on 23rd under recommended health guidelines for COVID-19 suspected deaths.
Today, Uganda has a total of 1,079 cumulative confirmed cases and 971 recoveries.
