Police have confirmed they arrested one of the most wanted suspects who have been notoriously terrorizing the areas of Ntoroko.
Saturday Basara Peter, the alleged master planner of strings of robberies in Ntoroko district and the surrounding areas was arrested by the Ugandan police together with its counterpart in DRC last week.
The Uganda police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga has told journalists at Naguru police headquarters that the suspect was arrested Saturday Peter in Buniya, DRC.
“We are hunting the other people that were working with him to carry out robbery in Ntoroko district and the surrounding areas,” Enanga said
He identified the other suspects as Mugume Kiza, Tibasiima Yokosi, Katusabe Rogers and Katusabe Huga, all residents of Kanara and Nyakageshi in Ntoroko district.
During the operation, Enanga further explained, police recovered one gun which has been involving in several crimes.
“This gun has been involving in about 11 robberies beginning with the robbery of a man called Lusiya Muhinde of Kalugutu who they robbed over 1.5 million, Jonathan of Nyakusenyi who was robbed 2.3 millions and others,” Enanga explained
He described the arrest as a great achievement to the joint security operations that are taking place in Ruwenzori west region and assured locals of peace in the region.
