“Fr. Lokodo Developed Mild Complications In Switzerland, Crispin Kaheru
The Uganda Human Rights Commission has confirmed to the reports of the death of their member and former state minister for integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo.
Fr. Lokodo died in Geneva Switzerland. UHRC announced the minister’s death on Saturday morning
“It is with great shock and pain that we have learned of the passing of our Honourable Member of the Commission, Fr. Simon Lokodo. He passed on thid morning at Geneva Switzerland Flag of Switzerland. The Commission will share details in due course”,
Chrispin Kaheru, the UHRC commissioner said Fr Lokodo and others still at large had gone on official duties when he developed mild complications alleged to change of weather.
“It is very terrible. They travelled for the Universal Periodic Review Process of Uganda in Geneva. When they reached there, he got complications and we thought it was mild and may be it was change of weather .
Born on October 28, 1957,in Kaabong District, Fr Lokodo has died at the age of 64.
An ordained priest, at the age of 49, Fr. Lokodo joined politics in 2006 through a special election held on June 29, following the death of the area MP of Dodoth County. He was then excommunicated by the catholic church from celebrating Eucharistic mass and other church activities.
He served as the minister of State for industry between 2009 and 2011.
In 2011, he was appointed the state minister for Ethics and Integrity in the office of the president, a position he had held until recently when he was dropped from cabinet.
He also served as the member of parliament for Dodoth county from 2006 but lost to Ben Koryang, who defeated him in NRM primaries.
He was then appointed the member of the UHRC by President Museveni.
