Unknown people on Tuesday night attacked Mengo Magistrate court and broke into the office of the court Secretary General, the IT department office and took different documents and other unidentified items.
This attack has brought all the work at this court to be put on hold and all the offices are now closed including the prisoners that had to be brought for court hearing have been stopped from coming until further notice.
According to the spokesperson of the Judiciary Jameson Kalemanyi confirmed to the journalists that it’s true the court was attacked but the police is doing its work.
“Our court in Mengo was attacked by unknown people last night and took our documents and other items that we haven’t identified, however we have closed our offices to allow police carry out investigations and when it’s done we shall resume with work,” Kalemanyi.
The court premises are now surrounded by the police investigation unit including the CID officers trying to use the cctv cameras around to identify those who carried out these attack on this court.
