NABILATUK:
A UPDF soldier at the rank of Colonel has been shot and wounded in Nabilatuk district Northern Uganda.
The injured is Brigade Commander Col Ezra Byaruhanga, he was shot in the gunfire exchange as security pursued a cattle wrestler who had raided eight heads of cattle in Siju village on Thursday night.
It is reported that the officer sustained with wounds in the leg and arm. He has been flown to a yet to identify hospital for treatment.
This is a second shooting incident in the area. On Thursday at around 11 O’clock, a group of warriors shot dead 2 infantry soldiers in the area.
Milton Odongo, the Nabilatuk Resident District Commissioner confirmed to both incidences and condemned acts of shooting targeting security operatives.
In related stories, security in Kotido recovered a gun of SMG riffle type with four rounds after ASTU and UPDF soldiers shot and killed one suspect in the warrior gang that has been terrorizing the area raiding their animals.
This incident was confirmed by the UPDF 3rd Division Spokesperson Capt. Edrin Mawanda.
According to him, security is in all efforts to disarm people in the Karamoja sub region as well as stablizing security in the region.
