Today 18th February 2023, the University of St Joseph’s -Mbarara has passed out 184 graduands at their 2nd graduation ceremony held at the University grounds at Nyamitanga hill, Mbarara city.

These include 101female graduands (54%) and 83 males (46%). They were conferred to certificates, diplomas and degrees in different academic disciplines.

During the graduation ceremony, two graduands were awarded exceptional certificates for showing best performances. They are Plasdia Natumanya with CGPA 4.48 and Bony Agaba CGPA 4.41 in Bachelor’s of Education Primary and Bachelor’s of Office Management and Secretarial Studies, respectively.

The vice chancellor Rev. Fr. Deus Kalemile congratulated the graduands stating that the university has established both graduate and post graduate programes which are open for all qualified students.

The Vice Chancellor who referred to graduands as the “salt and light of the world” implored them to serve with integrity and commitment in order to be good ambassadors of the university.

The Mbarara Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha, who is also the university chancellor commended parents for their hard work towards the accomplishment of their children’s academic excellence. He appeals to the graduates to engage themselves in using acquired knowledge and skills to transform individual livelihoods as well as changing the world into a sanctuary of peace for other people to live in.

First forward, the Archbishop urged the administration at USJM to engage learners in job creating programs than job seeking programs. University chaplains have also been tasked to develop guidelines and policies that teach the present and future generations spiritual values.

The guest of honour Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa the deputy speaker of the parliament of Uganda congratulated parents and graduands upon the great win.

He hailed the great co-operation of the Archbishop Lambert Beinomugisha as the number one partner of the government of uganda in providing education services.

Tayebwa asked private universities to collaborate in order to reduce the expenses on finance. According to Tayebwa, religious universities have natured good respect and honesty which earns them a great advantage of working environment. He advised the management and administration at the University of St. Joseph’s Mbarara to start an endowment fund project to support University activities.
