Kiruhura District Veterans and Heroes of the NRM revolution have been urged to remain peaceful and productive members of society and role models as they settle among the communities they helped to liberate. Hon Wilson Kajwengye, MP Nyabushozi, made the appeal on Veterans Day, which took place yesterday, 24th August 2023, at the NRM offices in Rushere, Kiruhura district.
During the event, Hon Gen Sam Kavuma emphasized the importance of SACCOS and encouraged Veterans to buy shares in the SACCO, regularly save, borrow, and repay the money they borrow, and share dividends. He discouraged the formation of SACCOS expecting support from outside members, instead encouraged them to use the member-founded, member-funded, member-managed system for SACCOS to thrive and benefit members.
The event also saw the capture and harmonization of personal data and records of veterans and their spouses by the UPDF pensions office and the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs department. The veterans were also sensitized on various issues, including the need to be more productive in society and contribute to the nation’s development actively.
Speaking at the event, Hon Wilson Kajwengye MP Nyabushozi said, “We must continue to honor and respect our Veterans as they have played a significant role in the liberation of our country. They should continue to be productive members of society and act as role models among the communities they live in.”
The Veterans and Heroes of the NRM revolution played a vital role in liberating the country from dictatorship, and it’s essential that they are appreciated and supported. The efforts made by the UPDF pensions office and the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs in capturing and harmonizing their records will go a long way in ensuring they receive the support and appreciation they deserve.
Blessings HON WILSON KAJWEGYE 🙏🙏🙏🙏
