“Some of us are what we are because of the intercession of Mother Mary,” MP Tayebwa said.

The Government whip was expressing his heartfelt gratitudes to the catholic community of Paidha Catholic Parish in Zombo District, Nebbi Diocese for the hospitality showered to him and other governmemt officials on Saturday when they had gone to celebrate the opening of the New Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

His remarks comes at a time when the Catholic church world over is reciting the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) in this month. According to the Catholic church tradition, the month of October is the month of the Holy Rosary wherein Christians across the world gather in small groups, or as individuals to recite Rosary prayers meditating five decades of the Rosary. It is believed that the Rosary is the prayer tool which Christians use to fight the devil as well as the only prayer where one directly speaks to Mother Mary.

Last week on Saturday, Paidha Catholic Parish received the Blessed Virgin Mary and opened a new Grotto for her to enable the faithful in praying for Mother Mary’s intercession.

The main celebrant of the Holy Mass was His Lordship Rt. Rev. Raphael P’mony Wokorach, the new Bishop of Nebbi Diocese who was flanked by a number of priests at the Parish and other parishes in Zombo district.

During the Mass, Bishop Wokorach also witnessed a reception of the sacrament of confirmation to candidates from Paidha Catholic Diocese.

The event was arranged by the Zombo District woman MP Catherine Mavenjina and legislators from the West Nile sub region.

MP Thomas Tayebwa is among a few legislators from the Southwestern region known for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and has frequently supported different church activities like the completion of the construction of his local parish, Kigarama Catholic Parish in Bitereko sub county, Ruhinda North county Mitooma district. He has also supported church and mosque projects within and outside Mitooma district.

Other legislators from the Southwestern Uganda districts known for their devotion to Mother Mary include Francis Mwijukye (Buhweju), Dononzio Mugabe Kahonda (Ruhinda South), former Rubaabo MP, Mary Paula Turyahikayo aka Mama Rubabo, among others
