People from across the country and world over on Thursday showered the Toro kingdom head, King Oyo Nyimba Kamba Iguru as he turned to 29 years of age.
Everyone at the Kingdom was all smiles seeing the King celebrating his birthday although no celebrations were held at the King’s palace Nyaruzika in Fortportal city as it is usually done in the past years on every 16th April.
The King called off the celebration and Parrots UG caught up with the Nyaruzika government on why the 29th birthday celebrations were cancelled?
The kingdom’s information minister Charles Mwanguhya says the decision to cancel King’s 29th Birthday celebrations was reached at in a meeting with the officials in the Kingdom.
According to Mwanguhya, this was so done in order to conform to the standard operating procedures and curb the spread of covid19 and related new variants.
In his burthday message read by minister Mwanguhya, the king advised his subjects and Ugandans in particular not to take the easing of covid-19 measures for granted but rather take personal initiative to protect themselves and follow all covid-19 guidelines put in place by the government.
He also rallied the youth in Uganda and the world to guard against contracting HIV/Aids, and work hard to ensure the development of the country.
King Oyo Nyimba Kamba Iguru ascended the throne at the age of three in 1995.
Mwanguhya meanwhile says they are monitoring the covid19 situation to decide on how best to celebrate the 26th coronation anniversary of the king due in September.
