Police in Rukungiri is holding Restatuta Asiimwe, a married woman for suspectedly conniving with other assailants to kill his husband on yet to identify seasons
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson says that they arrested Asiimwe to assist police in investigation. Her arrest came after residents pointed accusing fingers as a prime suspect in the murder of her husband who she had just abandoned less than fortnight ago.
Police preliminary reports shows that Asiimwe on June 1 left the home of her husband a one Nahe Tukamuhabwa alias Kaboyi, 51, a resident of Nyarwanya cell, Burora parish, Nyarushanje sub county in Rukungiri district and parted her ways.
However, few days later, on June 11 at around 2100hrs, the husband was found dead in his bed with blood oozing in her ears and the mouth prompting residents to pin Asiimwe (the deceased wife) to having a hand in the murder.
According to the couple’s son, Steven Ninsiima, on the fateful day, his father returned late from the Omukihogo trading centre where he had gone for a local beer commonly known as Tonto and found him and his step sister already asleep.
Shortly after Tukamuhabwa had returned from the bar, Ninsiima had a big bang in his house which awakened him only to see flashlights in coming from father’s bedroom.
Ninsiima told police that he attempted to make an alarm but the unknown assailants threatened to kill him. A blessing in disguise came when he took a french leave through a front door to alert the neighours. Unfortunately, this was fruitless as neighbours found when the assailants had taken off.
Police was notified and rushed to the scene of crime and the deceased body was taken to Rwakabengo HCIII for a post mortem.
Maate told reports that the body was examined by police health experts and found that it had sustainable visible injuries on the head part and blood oozing from the ear and the mouth.
A case big murder by assault has been recorded at Rukungiri central police station under file reference no.CRB 513/2022.
