In a momentous occasion, Mayanja Memorial Training Institute (MTI) celebrated its successful 3rd graduation ceremony and 15 years anniversary. The event was attended by prominent figures, including George Mutekanga, the assistant commissioner in-charge of private schools. In his speech, Mutekanga expressed his gratitude to the Mayanja family for their valuable contributions to Uganda’s education and health sectors through the establishment of Mayanja Memorial Hospital, Mayanja Memorial Training Institute, and Mayanja Foundation. He highlighted the importance of discipline, values, and knowledge that the graduates have gained during their time at the institute.
Mutekanga emphasized the significance of the graduates’ qualifications in the health sector, urging them to prioritize the well-being of their patients and dedicate themselves to their profession. He also congratulated both the parents and graduands for the achievement, acknowledging that not everyone who starts school successfully completes their course.
Busingye Peace Sabiti the vice chairperson of the Mayanja memorial training Institute governing council said that a total of 1,335 graduated on their 3rd graduation in different disciplines as follows, 473 graduated in certificate of nursing, 128 in diploma of nursing extension, 329 in certificate in midwifery, 80 in diploma of midwifery extension, 129 certificate in medical laboratory techniques, 41in diploma with medical laboratory technology and 155 graduated in a diploma in clinical medicine.
Busingye also urged graduates to contribute positively towards the growth of the health sector and respecting their respective hypcocritic oaths.
Prof Kabakyenga Jerome the chairman board of Trustees MTI said the dream of Mayanja memorial training Institute’s dream is to improve health of Ugandans and global community through public health education programs and health service delivery with suitable technology for this dynamic population.
Kabakyenga thanked all their partners that offer them handson practice for their students in their hospitals and called on them to continue walking with them in order to produce a good product of health workers.
He said as the Institute they aims at becoming the center of excellence in providing quality and relevant health professional training.
Kazibwe Nassa Ziwa a lab technician at the Nyamitanga based children’s hospital(Holy Innocents) said it was not a simple journey but he persevered and made it to the end. He thanked his mother for giving him the good foundation and promised to continue making her happy. Kazibwe also thanked the management and staff Holy Innocents children’s hospital for enabling him study while working, noted that it would not be possible if their was no cooperation among the colleagues at work.
