KAMPALA
The police rounded up 34 suspected criminals mainly youth on Tuesday July 25, in Kampala.
The deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire says the suspect were arrested during a crackdown operation in Kampala.
He said the arrested individuals are suspected to be part of criminal gangs operating in the Central Business District.
They face charges of vandalism, robbery and theft.
“The gangs have been involved in various criminal activities, including vandalism of parked and moving motor vehicles, snatching of phones, pickpocketing, and other offenses,” ASP Owoyesigyire said
The arrested suspects are currently detained at Central Police Station Kampala and investigations are underway.
Owoyesigyire noted that operations to crackdown all the criminals in the city remains ongoing promising to inform the public of any further progress.
