Police in Nsangi last night carried out a search at the home of musician Mathias Walukaga located in Maya sub-county, Wakiso district and made arrested 45 people who were found gathered at his home.
According to a tweet by police, an operation was mounted at around 12am following a tip-off that a group of people had gathered at the musician’s home “for a reason not yet known.”
“Police in Nsangi have today 03.02.2021 at around 12am carried out an operation at the home of Mathias Walukaga located in Maya Sub County Wakiso District. At least 45 suspects , most of them residents of Kawempe Division were arrested.” Police said in a tweet.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire confirmed to this development saying that the suspects were arrested for defying Covid-19 guidelines.
“At least 45 suspects, most of them residents of Kawempe Division, were arrested and are currently detained at Nateete Police Station and Nsangi Police Station on allegations of doing negligent acts likely to spread an infection of a disease,” he said.
Owoyesigire told Parrots UG that the host (Walukaga) took on heels upon seeing the officers coming towards his house and was not not arrested.
The suspects are according to Owoyesigire being processed and will be arraigned in courts of law at any time.
