KAMPALA
The minister of presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda has announced that 61 public servants will be awarded medals at the 39th NRM/NRA Liberation Day anniversary.
According to the minister, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will award the medals in honor of their distinguished and excellent works the preparation of Non- Aligned movement and G77 plus China summits that were held in Kampala in January 2024.
Government has also organized a three-day medical camp to extend medical care services to residents in the greater Mubende area.
“The presidential office in conjunction with Bazungu e.v and Prince Kimbugwe foundation has also organized an eye care. Medical camp running for three days ,Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th 2025, January , 2025, at Mubende Regional Hospital with eye diseases in the Great Mubende area will receive free treatment,” said Babalanda.
“Upto six hundred eye glasses will be given out free of charge to those that require them, and free eye surgeries offered free of charge by the foundation at Mubende referral hospital.” Babalanda added.
Celebrated on 26th January, every year, the NRM Liberation Day is when the National Resistance Army (NRA), led by H.E Yoweri Museveni, overthrew the previous government to capture power in 1986. On this day, NRA/M guerilla fighters reflect on their country’s history, acknowledge the challenges they have overcome, and look forward to a brighter future
This year’s 39th anniversary celebration will be held at at National Teacher’s College Mubende playground, in Mubende district. The theme of the celebration is “Salvation to those who re-sacrificed for our Homeland.”
President Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest. He will be accompanied by the First Lady, also the minister of education and sports, Janet Kataha Museveni among other invited dignitaries.
