The Ministry of Education and Sports has registered a total number of seven hundred forty nine thousand, three hundred and forty seven candidates to sit for this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations commencing on 7th-9th Of November 2023.
This was revealed by the principal Public Relations officer UNEB Jennifer Kalule Musamba while addressing the media today at Uganda Police Headquarters in Naguru.
“ 52% are females while 48 are males. We have a total of 14,442 PLE Examination centres. Of these, 79 are UPE centres, while 21 are non UPE schools. We believe this is a vote of confidence to the government Universal Primary Education program and we would like to applaud the teachers for a job well done in our UPE schools” Kalule noted
She added that as Uganda National Examinations Board they strongly caution heads of UPE schools against registering private students as PLE students.“ This is defrauding government of the resources , such students should be declared as private and the registration fee paid accordingly” Kalule cautioned.
Kalule also told media that one suspect by names of Okwenyi Tom has been detained at Kampala Metropolitan police due to sharing fake PLE papers.
“ Okwenyi, a former teacher but currently said to be working with a multi- national Agency, is said to have a social media platform called ‘Elite SST Senior Examiners, where he shared the fake papers, to over 1500 members of the group “ Kalule said
She further cautioned parents and teachers to desist from being part of these criminal social media platforms involved in acts of aiding and abetting malpractice as in doing so, you’re destroying the destinies of your children.
