MBARARA:
The High Court in Mbarara has once again adjourned a case inwhich a woman tested negative for HIV/AIDS six years after physicians advised her to start ARVs.
Faridah Kiconco sued Sheema Municipal council and Sheema local government after their medical personnel at Kabwohe health centre IV reportedly delivered wrong test results and started her on ARVs, and only to test negative after six years.
Kiconco, a resident of Rwengando parish Kiziba, Kagango division in Sheema Municipality Sheema District on March 16, 2011 sought medical attention on account of her pregnancy and went to Kabwohe Health centre IV, the attending physician requested for an HIV test. Samples were taken and came back positive.
She was prescribed with septrin, which she took until she was introduced to ARVS after giving birth.
She had earlier sued the municipal council and Sheema District Local Government demanding for UGx 1 billion as compensation, however, court has been adjourning her case in what is seemingly justice delayed.
High Courg presided over by His worship Samuel Twakire on behalf of Justice Jane Kiguddu, the lead judge in the matter who was absent, adjourning the case to 15th March 2022.
However, Kiconco says she has sold off almost all the family properties to cater for her worrying life and she now demands compensation from Sheema Local Government.
