The police in Bukedi region has on Wednesday (July6) recovered a vehicle allegedly abandoned by suspected armed robbers
The vehicle registration number UAY 596B was abandoned by suspected robbers at Butakikoko Village, Kiryolo Parish, Lwatama sub-county in Kibuku District.
The Bukedi North region police spokesperson, Immaculate Alaso says the that the vehicle was abandoned by suspected cattle rustlers in Kibuku district.
She also noted that they discovered a body of a man identified as Ibrahim Buyinza, a cattle dealer and resident of Namutumba District has been recovered in the vehicle
Alaso further says that the deceased body had bullet wounds while inside the vehicle had a lot of animal hair, ropes, gumboots, sandals, cow dung and one black back bag containing clothes.
The discovery according to police followed a 03:00am call from concerned residents who called to police serking for security over alleged armed robbers moving in a V8 Landcruiser who had ragged attack on residents in Nakibulu village, Macholi ward in Budaka Township, Budaka District.
“A team of officers from the Field Force unit (FFU) responded immediately and communicated to their counterparts at Budaka checkpoint along the Mbale-tirinyi road about the suspects but by the time the communication came in, the suspects had gone past the checkpoint,” she added.
Also noted that there has been an increase in cases of cattle theft in the area arguing that this could have been part of the racket stealing cattle
