Akom couple was on Sunday night at around

8pm gunned down together his wife Jenifer Akidi by unknown rustlers at their home in Kotido

The couple according to police was preparing to go to sleep when the incident happened.

Joseph Komol, the Kotido district LCV Chairperson says that the practice of rustlers targeting elected leaders is unfortunate and hampers service delivery in the region

“How can they expect services to be delivered to them if they are killing the leaders?” he asked.

These murders come at a time when Karamoja is facing serious famine caused by mainly the dry spell of drought encompassing some of the North Eastern parts of Uganda.

The dry spell has claimed lives of people and livestock, agriculture in Karamoja is also on a stand still.
